Ramen Champion at Bugis Plus delivers authentic Japanese ramen excellence from different prefectures across Japan, located at 201 Victoria Street #04-07 in Singapore's vibrant entertainment district. Since launching the Ultimate Ramen Champion Singapore competition in July 2011, this innovative dining concept has evolved into a comprehensive Japanese cuisine destination that showcases the spirit of culinary competition and quality that defines Japan's ramen culture. Operating daily from 11am to 10pm, Ramen Champion serves Singapore's growing appreciation for authentic Japanese flavors through their unique food court concept that features multiple ramen styles and Japanese specialties under one roof.
The restaurant operates on an innovative cashless card system where customers receive a card upon entry, charge all orders to the card during their visit, and pay upon exit, creating a seamless dining experience that encourages exploration of the extensive menu. Hand-kneaded ramen noodles made in-house daily showcase traditional craftsmanship, while the diverse menu spans from classic shoyu and miso preparations to creative options including spicy miso, tsukemen dipping ramen, and trending Japanese dishes like Manrigan Maze Soba packed with vegetables and crispy tempura elements. The restaurant's "cafe by the beach" aesthetic creates a relaxed atmosphere that appeals to both ramen traditionalists and newcomers to Japanese cuisine.
Bugis Plus's strategic fourth-floor location provides a unique dining environment above Singapore's shopping and entertainment hub, easily accessible via Bugis MRT station for ramen enthusiasts throughout the island. With 344 reviews on dining platforms and island-wide delivery services, Ramen Champion has established itself as a trusted destination for authentic Japanese ramen experiences that honor traditional recipes while embracing innovation. The restaurant's participation in bringing over 25 Japanese brands to Singapore demonstrates their commitment to introducing authentic Japanese cuisine to local diners, making it an essential stop for anyone seeking genuine Japanese ramen craftsmanship in Singapore's competitive dining landscape.
Tried the revamped Ramen Champion. A smaller setup than previously. Had their tsukemen (dipping noodles). A little salty, but it was decent. I suggest going for the cold noodles instead of the hot ones.

Food was mediocre. I'd rather go to Ajisen for a better dining experience; their standard is good for the price and convenience. You'll have to collect your own food like a QSR. The takowasabi and egg were not fresh, and the noodles were soggy. Perhaps we went there with higher expectations, only to be let down by the food.

Deeply disappointed and frustrated with the appalling service and unprofessional behavior we encountered at Bugis+ outlet today.
We ordered a Tonkatsu Ramen Set using the QR code menu, which included a picture. There were only three options available:
1. Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen
2. Tonkatsu Ramen with Chilli Topping
3. Black Tonkatsu Ramen with Chilli Topping
We selected option 2 and clearly indicated “No Chilli Topping.” However, we were served the Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen (option 1), which was not what we ordered. This dish was meant for my daughter who cannot take spicy food.
When we raised the issue with the staff, instead of assisting us, the server rudely insisted that we had ordered the spicy version. When we questioned how to order the non-spicy version shown in the menu picture, he pointed and told us to go “see for yourselves.”
What was most shocking — and unacceptable — was his subsequent behavior. Only after the manager spoke to us did the staff step out from behind the counter and said, “Ok ok! I make new one!” in an aggressive and gangster-like tone, with no hint of apology or remorse. It was not just unprofessional — it was confrontational and deeply humiliating.
Another young staff member also displayed poor attitude and seemed more interested in defending the error than resolving it.
The manager later explained that the staff were new and untrained. Frankly, if staff are not properly trained, they should not be left to serve customers. Their lack of readiness should not come at the cost of customers’ dining experience.
After such an ordeal, we were too upset to continue and left the outlet without eating. What was meant to be a simple meal turned into an unnecessarily stressful and upsetting experience.

We had tonkotsu ramen. The broth was extremely salty, so salty I didn't finish my noodles. I scooped up the meat and washed off the saltiness in a cup. I couldn't be bothered doing the same for the noodles, which were meh. I've had better from instant noodles.

Will not patronise again. Food was okay. We visited on a Friday evening, which was not crowded, and many seats were available, but there was an 'auntie' who kept asking us to share a table with other customers, when we had only just finished our food. She was rude and had a bad attitude, and gave us a scowl when clearing our table.

I recently tried the tendon set, and it was a delightful meal. It came with chawanmushi, soup, and a canned drink, making it a great value for the variety offered.
The rice stood out with its perfectly chewy texture, providing an excellent base for the tempura. The squid was a highlight—soft, tender, and cooked just right. The rest of the tempura was consistently good, with a satisfying crunch and well-balanced flavors.
The accompanying chawanmushi was smooth and flavorful, and the soup complemented the meal well. Overall, it’s a satisfying and well-rounded set that I’d definitely recommend!

Food tastes great for a very reasonable price.
Do note, the place works effectively as a food court - a physical menu is provided, but you are required to order and pay on your phone using a card. Then, pick it up yourself, on a tray, when your number is called, and return the tray yourself. That's fair enough, though, since there's no service charge.

The Bugis district has many Japanese restaurants, creating great competition. We were quite late for our dinner, arriving around 9:20 PM. Most restaurants had stopped accepting new walk-in customers. Fortunately, Ramen Champion was still available.
As first-timers, we were impressed by the wave of posters displayed outside the restaurant. Honestly, it worked for us, who were hungry for food. 😅
To keep it simple, we ordered the Tendon (tempura rice bowl) at $17.90 and a simple, light seaweed udon soup at $9.80.
Honestly, the prices were high. A very high-standard tempura rice bowl at Raffles City Mall cost less, and a simple udon soup with not many ingredients cost really too high.
Fortunately, their food did not disappoint us. Especially the tempura rice bowl; although the two tempura prawns were not that large, they were fresh and delicious. The two pieces of fish were slightly too soft, but acceptable due to their original texture.
Overall, the tempura ingredients were very well fried and seasoned, making them flavourful and delicious. The seaweed udon soup was not bad; it simply fed my small-appetite wife. 😅
Overall, the experience was not bad, but with a canteen-like environment and self-service arrangement, the prices should be slightly lower. Otherwise, it will not be my regular Japanese restaurant selection. Nevertheless, it is still recommended for first-timers.

First time trying tsukemen. The noodles are nice and chewy. The dip is like a seafood and pork broth, but it tastes strange to me as I prefer pure pork broth. The chashu was the highlight for me, so soft and tender!

This is my first time trying Ramen Champion. The broth is tasty and the noodles are pleasant. The portion size seems large to me. However, the meat is somewhat tough and difficult to chew. Overall, it's just okay.

There are 5 different ramen champions who serve their signature ramen at this location, hence its name.
We had the black garlic tonkotsu ramen and tendon. Both were pretty good, and the ramen broth was rich and flavourful. Our set meal was under $20 per person.

A central food court offering Japanese food, serving ramen, rice bowls, and other noodles. We went for the tempura don, which was really delicious, well-fried, and not overly oily. Everything is very self-service, and you barely need to speak to staff.

I really enjoyed the Triple God Ramen with savory umami tonkotsu broth, generous serving of both pork and beef sukiyaki slices, super tender delicate half-fatty pork collar char su, and perfectly al dente noodles. A couple drops of chilli oil works well too. Serving size was perfect for me. Most importantly, my mouth didn't have any sodium-induced dryness after the meal. Probably no MSG. Very satisfying meal. Shiok.

Champion Ramen truly lives up to its name! Hands-down the best ramen and soup base I've ever had — the different levels of spicy broth are a game-changer! It's worth visiting once a month to satisfy my cravings. Conveniently, they accept both cash and card. The only drawback is that it's slightly pricey.

I recently ate at this restaurant and just noticed they revamped from individual stalls to a central kitchen (back in 2021) 😅.
Ordering is done via the kiosk at the entrance (there are two in total). You enter and find a table you'd like to sit at, then wait a while before self-collecting your order when your number is called. Also, remember to clear your tray before you leave.
I had the following:
Tonkatsu Spicy Ramen Set Meal - not as salty as the Sukiyaki Ramen; I enjoyed the onsen egg.
Sukiyaki Ramen Set Meal - I found the broth of the Sukiyaki Ramen to be rather salty.
