Nail Palace - Bugis

Very disappointing experience with poor customer service and excessive hard selling. Half of my session was spent listening to aggressive upselling. I clearly mentioned that I had no budget due to my upcoming wedding, yet they kept insisting I use Atome. I even remember how, after losing my job a few months ago, they still pressured me to buy a package, disregarding my concerns about not being able to afford it. It felt like they didn’t genuinely care about my situation—just about making a sale. I understand businesses need revenue, but this approach is completely unacceptable. I left feeling very uncomfortable and disappointed.

Too much upselling. Even for a classic pedicure, they quoted $95. When I inquired why it was so high, they replied, "We are giving you a special pedicure." Well, what's special? Nothing much. They just mentioned they would take out the dead skin. Well, isn't that included in a classic pedicure? I still ended up paying $75, which is pretty high for a pedicure. It was a bad decision to visit this place. I should have visited some other place instead.

I regretted that I didn't read the reviews before I went to this shop. I felt very uncomfortable with the pedicurist who kept offering me services I didn't want, which were so expensive. During the session, she kept offering them until I made the payment. For what I paid, unfortunately, I got nothing much for the service, which she managed to upgrade to a more expensive service.

I came in with long extensions that were falling apart because I am a very clumsy person and was looking for a nearby but professional place to get them removed. I had gone to Nail Palace once before, and it was okay, so I decided to come again just for the removal. Two people worked on me, one on my right hand and the other on my left. Both were good and gentle on my broken nails. But as soon as I was nearly done, one of them kept upselling their services and membership. I said no approximately 10 times because I was on a low budget but desperately needed these nails removed. They didn't care about my situation and just kept desperately upselling their services. As soon as I was about to pay my original price ($73), they brought in their manager to help them upsell to me. I know the other customer was looking at me, knowing it was her turn next, lol. But yeah, don't come; they keep asking you to pay more and more. I think all their other outlets are also like this, not just Bugis+, lol. Thanks for the removal, but not for caring about my financial situation.

As others who scored low have mentioned, the hard sell was so off-putting I was tempted to just leave mid-session. How many times did I have to say NO before they stopped? Staff were nice, but I wasn't sure if their niceness was genuine – were they just trying to get me to fork out more for treatments and membership, or were they genuinely providing good customer service? I had to say no 6 times! I thought it was going to be a place to have my feet pampered and relax, but all it gave me was anxiety.

I don't come to this outlet often, but I visited recently out of convenience. The same hard-selling, aggressive tactics are present across all the outlets I've been to (including Yishun and Bishan), so I think that's the big downside of this nail chain. The good thing is that they are always very friendly and help you feel welcome. They allowed me to come back 3 days later to fill in the colour for my toenails, as I was wearing covered shoes the previous day. Served by Jaymie, Erlienda, KSI!

I'm requesting a full refund for the package that was hard-sold to me. Your staff told me that my nails needed a fungal treatment. I went to a doctor a few days later. The doctor said there was no fungal infection and that it was impossible I had one previously that your one-time treatment could have miraculously cured. Which means I was lied to by your staff. I went with my own stickers, and I only wanted a simple nail gel. But I left feeling pressured to believe that I needed fungal treatment and additional mask treatments that clearly didn't make sense. The pressure was much greater when the staff planted ideas into your mind, such as "I am a very easygoing customer" and "I am very generous," and leveraging health concerns like "dead skin cells will accumulate" and "melanin pigments on your skin will cause skin problems," etc. When I did not agree to the first package offer, there was a lot of calculator pressing in front of me, as well as some whispering between staff, which made it extremely uncomfortable, especially since my limbs were still in their hands. Ultimately, the nails didn't even last a week. The stickers were falling, and even the gel was starting to chip. And I barely did any work that involved heavy hand usage. Ridiculous! You have CCTV in your store. Go look at it. You have your receipts; go check them. I would not have left such a bad review had I not felt scammed. If I do not get a satisfactory reply by today, I will be making a police report.
