Overall, a very pleasant experience here. I'm glad it matches up to all the social media hype. It's a bit different from KBBQ, and I feel it is a fusion of HDL and Korean BBQ. I like that it's less smoky, and the meats are in smaller sizes and go perfectly with the peanut sauce. Pumpkin soup is rich and puree-like, so we were off to a good start. Meats are alright, and the buckwheat noodles were good as well. I've had better kimchi and sides at Korean chains, though. The cheese corn could be better with more cheese. Like HDL, they also have free-flow fruits and ice cream and top-notch service. There is a dining limit of 90 minutes, which we exceeded but were not chased away. Ha! Overall, it's pricey but good for special occasions.

The service was truly non-existent during my visit to this restaurant. You know, typically when you visit a China-based restaurant, you always receive tip-top service, but not at this restaurant. Regarding food recommendations, it was done in a very half-hearted way; they didn't seem interested in communicating and just asked you to scan a QR code. They served plain water, but they didn't top up water for you until you had to call them. Basically, unlike other restaurants that have service staff walk around and ask what you need or want, or see if anything can help to clear your plates, etc., none of this was observed in this store. Worst of all, I raised my hand for a good 30 seconds and nobody bothered, or some tried to look in your direction but weren't looking towards you. The ultimate death blow of bad service came when I asked 3 different service staff to top up the side dish; I waited a good 10 minutes and spoke to 3 people, yet it never came. Worst experience. And what brought down the experience further was that, at some tables, the service staff purposely stood there to help BBQ the meat, giving tip-top service. And they were all China Chinese folks. I wondered if there was differential treatment for locals at this store. The food was OK, nothing to really shout about. A seriously disappointing visit.

Xita Laotaitai (Bugis+), China’s top clay stove BBQ brand, brings charcoal grilling to SG with its signature smokiness—great for meat, but less so for ventilation. We had the Duo Feast Set ($131.40 non-member) featuring Fatty Beef Short Plate, Beef Rib Finger Roll, House-made Sauce Beef Skirt, Cold Buckwheat Noodles, Cold Dressed Chicken, and Golden Tofu. The beef short plate stood out—juicy, fatty, and sweet. Cold noodles were refreshing with apple sweetness and tang. Golden tofu had a crisp shell and soft interior. Add-ons included Thick Sliced Beef Tongue ($35.90)—decent but not fatty enough, Special Marinated Pork Fillet ($30.90)—flavourful and well-marinated, and Grandma Seafood Pancake ($16.90)—crispy, fluffy, and umami-packed. Sauces and pumpkin soup were satisfying, especially the dry spice powder. Banchan (kimchi, potato salad, leafy salad, pickled salad) was forgettable. Free-flow fruits and ice cream were fresh and sweet. Pricey overall, but membership gives discounts. Reservation recommended.

Had a great meal at Xita Lao Tai Tai! The meats were tender, juicy, and packed with smoky flavor. The staff were quick and friendly, and the atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit if you’re craving good BBQ!

The meat was incredibly juicy and tender! I loved every piece of the grilled meat. The service was prompt and welcoming. It comes at a higher price compared to other BBQ options, but the taste is definitely worth trying!

The food was great and tasted really good, just like the BBQ in Shenyang :) The aesthetic was beautiful too! The staff were very very kind and pleasant! The place was really clean as well :) I went with my 1-year-old and 2-month-old babies. They provided great service by placing my family in a room so that it was easier to look after the babies and enjoy a good meal! Thank you so much!

Love it!💯 Food was delicious! 👍👍 Marinated meat was good. Homemade sauce for the BBQ meat was yummy. Pumpkin soup was sweet and creamy! 👍 Fried tofu was special too. The cold buckwheat noodle is a must try!! It's one of a kind. Service was good; they portioned it out nicely for all of us!

For food, we ordered the Xita Fatty Beef Short Plate, Special Marinated Pork Collar, Cold Buckwheat Noodles (spicy), Pork Bulgogi Noodle Hotplate, and the Grandma Seafood Pancake – all specialty recommended items. Firstly, the meats were packed full of flavour on their own or with the dipping condiments provided. Definitely 5/5 for the meats! Next, both noodle dishes were of good standard considering their price range, and taste-wise, definitely a strong 4/5! Onto the sides: the Seafood Pancake was definitely not it for me. It was chewy and tasted like I was chewing flour rather than what you'd typically expect from a seafood pancake. Service was a good 4/5. Given the packed restaurant, the staff gave their best to be attentive to our needs when we needed them. Ambience-wise was also a good 4/5. The only improvement would be better suction for the charcoal smoke, as it wasn't strong enough, or perhaps providing customers with a bag cover.

We tried this restaurant for the first time and, overall, it didn't disappoint. As a well-known brand originating from Shenyang, China, it specializes in Korean-influenced clay stove barbecue, using binchotan charcoal—known for its high heat and low smoke emission. Instead of a traditional chimney, the setup features a strong suction system that was integrated into the pot, effectively reducing smoke in the dining area. We opted for a beef set meal, which included a variety of fresh and tender cuts. The service was attentive, and the staff were friendly, adding to the pleasant experience. However, the seating arrangement was a major downside. The tables were tightly spaced, and their design, with the base sealed beneath the tabletop (possibly to house a filter), left no legroom. This made the space uncomfortably cramped. Unless the management addresses this issue, we might not return despite the great food and service.

The chicken was nicely seasoned and grilled to perfection, but the pork belly wasn’t as impressive. What really stood out was the superb service — the staff were attentive and even helped cook the meat for us, which made the meal extra enjoyable. The sweet, refreshing fruits served were delightful, and it’s a nice touch that they offer Magnolia ice cream, not Mingo. One small downside is the layout near the cutlery station — it can feel a bit cramped, especially when the appetiser cart passes by frequently.
