There was a long wait. Rice was served long before the soup came. The food warmers were so dirty (see picture). Servers were quite rude and unfriendly.

New Manlee Bak Kut Teh at Bugis+ brings over 40 years of authentic Malaysian culinary heritage to Singapore's dynamic food scene, specializing in traditional herbal pork rib soup that represents one of Southeast Asia's most beloved comfort food traditions. This established restaurant originated in Kuala Lumpur and maintains authentic Malaysian-style preparation methods that distinguish it from Singapore's typically peppery, light bak kut teh variations through rich, dark herbal broths slow-cooked with over 20 carefully selected Chinese herbs and spices. Located on Level 1 at unit 01-12 within Bugis+ mall's diverse culinary ecosystem, New Manlee serves traditional food enthusiasts, Malaysian expatriates, and curious diners who appreciate authentic regional flavors and time-honored cooking techniques in Singapore's premier cultural district.
The signature menu centers on premium Bak Kut Teh featuring tender pork spare ribs, lean meat, pork stomach, and pork belly slow-cooked in aromatic herbal broths that include cinnamon, star anise, garlic, and traditional Chinese medicinal herbs that create complex, deeply satisfying flavors through hours of careful preparation. New Manlee specializes in Malaysian-style black herbal soup that offers rich, robust tastes distinctly different from Singapore's lighter preparations, served in individual claypots with mini table stoves that maintain optimal serving temperatures throughout the dining experience. The restaurant's innovative approach includes serving traditional soup with Japanese rice and udon noodles rather than conventional white rice and mee sua, creating unique fusion experiences that honor tradition while accommodating contemporary preferences and dietary variations.
Operating daily from 11:00am to 10:00pm with comprehensive delivery options through GrabFood, FoodPanda, Deliveroo, and Capita3Eats, New Manlee provides flexible dining experiences that accommodate both traditional restaurant dining and convenient home consumption. The restaurant's pricing structure includes Pork Ribs Bak Kut Teh from S0.90 and Premium versions from S2.90, with set meal options that provide complete dining experiences. With its commitment to authentic Malaysian culinary traditions, quality ingredient sourcing, and innovative service approaches, New Manlee continues to serve Singapore's appreciation for traditional Southeast Asian comfort foods while contributing to the diverse international culinary offerings that make Bugis+ a comprehensive destination for authentic regional cuisine exploration and traditional food culture preservation.

Ordered soft bone set. Soup is not too salty but somewhat thin. Bean curd skin is too hard and dry even when eaten last. Wrong type used? Portion is good. Pea sprouts tasted too raw – please fry longer. Customer service is non-existent as orders are made via tablet. Wait staff just dropped food and walked away. I went during off-peak hours, yet staff weren't attentive enough to refill my free-flow tea. I usually don't complain, but I don't find the 10% service charge justified here. Unlikely to revisit since food is mediocre. I'd rather support local hawkers.

A little too much fluff for SGD 40.40. 😐 My rating would be better if the price were 25% lower or if more meat 🍖 were added. I came with an open mind, not checking reviews before tasting the food, but it looks 👀 like hundreds of reviewers before me share the same thoughts as my mum and me. The ambience was okay ✅ and staff were polite ✅, so the only thing that needs improvement is to reduce the undesirable rubbish and add more meat. Otherwise, the restaurant will start bleeding red and closing down. Don't make the mistake of stepping over pounds to pick up pennies 🌸.

Don't be fooled by the reviews here. I would honestly avoid this place if possible. Honestly, the standard of this restaurant is so far off from renowned brands like Song Fa BKT. Here's my opinion: 1. They only provide one soup refill, which is already a red flag. As a BKT restaurant, people come to your store for the soup. 2. The soup tasted mediocre. It was so bland, I had to add dark sauce. 3. The meat portion was pathetic. I asked the staff, and they told me it's fixed at 90g, which amounted to roughly 5 pieces. 4. The meat was very tough and felt like plastic. 5. Their salted egg à la carte dish is so much better than their BKT. Lastly, the staff almost burnt us. He switched the burner to max, and the flame just exploded.

Overpriced for just an okay meal. I'll grant that the soup was quite flavourful. However, the meat portion was tiny. The bones could fit in the tiny saucer! $4 to make it a set with rice is a rip-off tactic. The good thing is that it had air conditioning and wasn't crowded during lunchtime (which should've been a red flag).

We came here after quite some time and were somewhat disappointed, as the quality had dropped. We ordered the set meal for two, and the pork ribs were extremely tough to eat. Most of it was 'soft bone' that was not soft at all. The soup was also on the saltier side. They have also limited the soup refill to only once, though drinks still offer unlimited refills. Overall, it was a little disappointing, but I may still come back if I crave their dou miao.

Bland soup and burnt meat at the bottom of the clay pot. Unfriendly young staff when we asked if the All-In BKT came with rice; her reply was impatient. Food and service were not worth the price paid.

Overall experience was average. Quality is decent, but not worth the price for the quantity. The amount of meat is too little for the price.

Edited review: Tried the pork tenderloin bak kut teh. The portion was on the small side, with only a few thin slices of pork that were a little chewy. It came with two pieces of button mushroom, some enoki mushrooms, cabbage, and tau kee in a herbal-style soup. The soup leaned a bit too salty for my liking and lacked the depth I was hoping for. The dough fritters were quite disappointing as they were tough and hard to bite into, with no crisp at all. The fried tofu was better, with a soft centre and a light crisp on the outside. The tau kwa and tau pok were the more enjoyable items, both nicely flavoured and well done. Overall, the meal felt pretty average, with only a few sides that were worth ordering.

The Bak Kut Teh soup is very nice, and they also have a new menu. The Curry Fish is delicious; I love it. Service is very good (Kate, Xue, Lim Hock). I gave them a $30 tip 🥰. If there were 10 stars, I would surely give them all.

The BKT was not too bad, and the herbal taste was definitely there. The pork was also tender. The price is still reasonable, considering the shopping mall location.

The staff are very friendly and provide very good service. The food is delicious. The manager, Kate, is very good. I'm sure I will introduce friends and come back again. 🥰 #ThankYou❤️

It's not SG Bak Kut Teh, but the Malaysian style. It's an herbal claypot dish with a good taste and aroma. I ordered the soft pork bone set, served with stir-fried vegetables and deep-fried dough. I think it's a reasonable price. I like it.

I was craving a mouthwatering bowl of Klang-style Bak Kut Teh soup that will leave you wanting more, and found it at a spot inside a mall at Bugis Plus. Opt for their decent set meal for two, which includes delectable sides like tofu and veggies, perfect for sharing. And my top recommendation—the sesame oil dry udon. With this being my second visit, it's clear that this place is popular for good reason.

Food: Superb herbal taste of the soup. The restaurant allows one-time refills for the soup without extra charges. The dry udon goes well with the bak kut teh, although one might find the combination weird. Service: Servers may not be attentive, especially when you are in the queue or asking for soup refills.
